The Nippon Cup was originally presented in 1921 to the Japanese tennis federation to commemorate their national tennis team reaching the finals of the Davis Cup (where they subsequently lost to the United States). Unfortunately, it was destroyed by fire several years ago. In 2015 Kent Recogntion Inc. was approached to make a copy of the trophy. With only a single black and white photograph and the height of the trophy as guidelines, our talented silversmiths set out to reproduce this wonderful trophy in sterling silver. Moulds had to be created, parts spun and cast. Hand chasing of the body was painstakingly performed and, in the end, a beautiful reproduction of this magnificent trophy was completed.
